Why do I do the work I do - it is because I know what it's like to have no one to talk to. I know what it's like to feel completely alone, misjudged, isolated, feeling like you don't belong and wanting that human connection - wanting acceptance. If I can be that person that someone can talk to, freely and with whole hearted understanding then I feel replenished in a way that's hard to describe. The value of my service is connection, human connection, giving someone the gift of space, of time, of being held in their most vulnerable moments. Showing you that you already have so much within you that you may not see, that change is possible and you can live the life you want to live. I am looking to empower you on your healing journey, reconnect you with your innate power, show you that you are capable. That you can have boundaries and still have healthy relationships, that pain is temporary and that suffering need not be the bane of your existence. What drives me forward is spreading awareness of how powerful we are as humans, how much of an impact we can have on others and ourselves and that all it takes is taking that first brave step to seek support.
My work is therefore very humbling as I support you to regain your self-confidence, manage anxiety, assert yourself effectively, and cultivate healthier communication patterns. Together, we will address the roots of people-pleasing tendencies and work on lifting the weight of persistent low mood. Whether you are ready to break free from the chains of childhood trauma, or need support with any issue you are struggling with, I am here to support you.
Imagine waking up every morning feeling like you can take on the world. How great does that feel? I qualified in 2014 and I could rabbit off a list of all my qualifications (for those who do want these, I have listed them further down) but I think what most people are looking for is understanding and connection which is where I come in, for I have always been fascinated with people.
For you see I haven’t always worked in mental health, for many years, more than I care to say, I worked in the corporate world of finance. So I have a real in-depth appreciation of how pressured that environment can be, how tiresome it can be to work in an industry you don’t want to be in and how connection with colleagues from all walks of life is so vital – as it is these very connections that can get you through the toughest of times.
It is this exact reason why I do the work I do — I offer a wide range of counselling and psychological services to guide clients through life’s challenges in their most trying of times.
Life can get difficult, and sometimes a little help from a professional Psychotherapist can make things better. I care about your well-being and provide you all the tools you need in order to seize the day and learn how to tackle even the most traumatic circumstances.
To me the greatest gift you can give someone is your time, time dedicated purely to you, unadulterated time for you to be who you need to be, to say what you want and need to say in the way you want to say it, no judgement, no interruptions, no limitations with complete and utter positive regard and the deepest containment available.

Trauma doesn’t just affect the mind and the emotions. It profoundly affects the brain and the body too. Often ‘the body remembers’ what the mind cannot, manifesting not just in long-term psychological difficulties but in physical ones too. Trauma is not something ‘all in the mind,’ or something that we can just think or talk ourselves out of.
Training in how there is no real split between ‘body’ and ‘mind’ – and certainly not when it comes to trauma.

Do you ever feel anxious all the time and just wish you didn’t, or do you feel like you don’t know who you are or feel lost? Are you going through another period of low mood which then impacts your self-confidence? All of these could be seen as symptoms of a trauma/event that happened years ago.
This is not always the case and sometimes our struggles can be relational or situational but if you find that you’ve been repeating certain patterns of behaviours for years and you’re not sure why, or you’re not sure how to break that cycle then that’s where I could support you to live the life you actually want to live.
You can reduce the anxiety you feel, or learn how to cope with it better, you can enhance your self-esteem to the point where you have good boundaries that you can maintain without feeling guilty or that you are letting people down. A lot of the way we are and the things we do are behaviours that we think are permanent and ingrained and it can feel like it’ll always be this way for you – but it doesn’t have to be – things can be different, because these are behaviours – they are not who you are. In the same way that you learn this behaviour I can help you navigate how to unlearn these unwanted patterns of thoughts and behaviours so that the real you, the “you” you’ve always wanted to be, can come forth, rise and shine – how freeing does that sound.
Trauma does not only impact the mind – it has a real visceral impact on the body, probably even more so, in that repressed emotions and memories can get stored in the body, especially if these have never been processed. The body is an incredible machine, complex in so many ways, it is always talking to us but quite often we are unequipped to “hear” what the body is saying, or we ignore the signs, but the signs are always there. The body is designed to keep us safe and if it thinks something will harm us it will do everything in it’s power to protect us, which means it can encapsulate a trauma, keep in contained until we are in the right mindset to process this. Quite often we may experience unexplainable pains in the body which suddenly appear that don’t seem to have a valid physical explanation – these could be trauma related, not always, but there is a relational reasoning to why you might be experiencing this. There is now more evidence highlighting the link between autoimmune illnesses, cancers, pain related conditions and trauma and repressed emotions.
As a holistic childhood trauma specialist I use therapies such as neuroscience, parasympathetic activation, brain retraining, somatic therapy, mindfulness, and grounding to create something called psychological safety – as it is only when we feel safe within ourselves that we can heal.

“I had 8 sessions with Pam, I can honestly say she gave me some great coping strategies to deal with my anxiety, depression and stress due to my partner cheating on me. At the beginning of my sessions I wanted my partner back I was incredibly low. By the end of the 8 I feel I found myself and learned to cope and deal with my challenges I never thought I could. Pam has the most amazing approach to helping people in their darkest moments. Thank you so much.”

“I had some sessions as I was experiencing some anxiety due to stress which was work related. The sessions were so good that Pam was able to unearth other issues and trauma that I didn’t think had affected me in my adult life. I certainly feel lighter and like I have lifted a weight off my shoulder. The coping strategies have helped me a lot too and I’m using them on a daily basis!
I highly recommend Pam, she’s very professional and her services have definitely made a vast improvement in how I now handle stress.”

“After a family bereavement I needed someone to speak with as everything felt as if I'd lost my way entirely.
After my sessions, every time I felt lighter, I can't explain it really? ..but to say it helped would be an understatement.
So I wanted to write a review and recommend Pam to anyone that is thinking about therapy - she was amazing, so kind and patient but also gave me some incredible tools for coping with my trauma.
I would recommend her to anyone that needs someone to speak to and can honestly say it helped me massively.”

The prospect of starting counselling can be daunting especially if it's your first time. If you've reached a point in your life where you're thinking I really need to talk to someone but I'm also not quite sure what to expect, then this guide is for you. In a bid to pre-empt some of your questions I have put together some FAQ’s for you on what to expect from therapy.
Counselling is a collaborative process where a trained professional, known as a therapist or counsellor, provides a safe and confidential environment to help individuals address various concerns. Through talking, active listening, and evidence-based techniques, counselling assists individuals in gaining insights, coping with challenges, and making positive changes in their lives.
Consider counselling if you're facing persistent challenges that affect your daily life, relationships, work, or overall well-being. These challenges might include overwhelming stress, persistent sadness, anxiety, relationship issues, grief, or difficulty coping with life changes.
Yes, counselling is confidential. Therapists are bound by ethical guidelines to maintain confidentiality, except in situations where there is a risk of harm to yourself or others. Confidentiality promotes a safe space for open and honest communication.
The duration of therapy varies depending on individual needs and the complexity of the issues. Some clients find relief in a few sessions, while others may benefit from longer-term therapy. As your therapist we would discuss the estimated duration based on your specific concerns.
I utilize an integrative process which incorporates a holistic person-centred, evidence-based approach tailored to your needs. This may include neuroscientific based techniques, somatic healing, cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness, grounding techniques, and other proven methods designed to address your concerns effectively.
Session fees can be found under the Contact section and can be discussed during the initial free consultation. It's essential to inquire about insurance coverage if you plan to use it, as policies and coverage differ - I do accept BUPA, WPA, Vitality & Aviva insurers.
Counselling can assist with a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, stress, relationship problems, grief, trauma, self-esteem, and personal growth. It provides support for various life challenges.
Your active participation is vital. We will work collaboratively, setting goals and regularly reviewing your progress. Your insights and feedback guide the therapy process.
